Water Fountain
Over the last few years we have noticed an increase in people asking for drinking water at the market, especially in the summer months. This weekend the Trust will be trialing a new water fountain for the first time.
The Otago Farmers Market Trust decided on this trial because of concerns about the environmental impacts of bottled water and the amount of waste created by the cups used with water coolers. The Trust wishes to provide free water to market customers and vendors.
The installation of the water filter was overseen by Mark Crossland of Pure Water Central and was made possible through funding by Pub Charity, as part of an overall upgrade of the Mobile Kitchen.
Otago Farmers Market Trust Chair Rodger Whitson, says that he was very “pleased to see free water supplied at the market and that it is just one of the many things that we are constantly doing to improve the market for customers and vendors alike”.
