Many of the recipes you will find on this website are Alison’s own creations. Every Wednesday Alison’s recipes also feature in our locally-owned and operated newspaper, the Otago Daily Times, and once a month she joins the Classic Hits breakfast team to discuss all things food.
Alison also keeps a blog which is regularly updated and features a lot of the recipes she features at the market, so you can visit her at her blog, Taste of My Life.
The Otago Polytechnic
The Otago Polytechnic is a fantastic supporter of the mobile kitchen. Staff and students from the School of Hospitality do regular demonstrations at the Saturday Farmers Market, when local, healthy and affordable dishes are prepared in conjunction with free culinary advice for the public.
This gives them the ability to share skills, knowledge and their sustainable vision with our local community and in turn bring about effective positive lifestyle changes. The project also enables the students to see the benefits and rewards of volunteer work within the local community.

“A huge thank you to the Otago Farmers Market Trust for their support of our recent school fair. The Otago Farmers Market Chef’s caravan was a real crowd-puller and gave our fair another dimension, adding a professional flair to our exciting atmosphere. Chef Alison Lambert’s vibrant personality shone through on a cold day! We were grateful for her time and the effort that went into planning her menu, and even more grateful for the tastings, which led to plenty of recipes being taken home!!! This was a great hassle free addition to our fair, which we totally recommend and hope to be able to use again next time.”
