Apple Danish Cake

225g plain flour
½ tsp baking powder
Pinch salt
125g butter
125g brown sugar
1 egg – beaten
400g apples – sliced
½ tsp ground cloves
1tsp cinnamon
1Tbsp brown sugar


Sift flour, baking powder & salt. Melt butter & sugar in a pan until combined, remove from heat to cool before whisking in egg. Fold in flour mix. Press 2/3 mixture into 20cm square baking tin. Place sliced apples in a layer onto base, mix together spices and additional sugar, sprinkle over apples. Spread remaining mixture evenly over the apples. Cook at 180 degrees Celsius for approx. 45 mins. Cool for 30 mins in pan before removing.
