Beanos Bakery

The team at Beano’s is a very busy and focused one.

In 2006 Julie Lanauze completed her chef qualification from Otago Polytechnic. After a couple of years cooking at Palms Restaurants in Dunedin she bought an existing OFM business and entered the world of self-employment.

The bakery where the market products are made is situated in Waikouaiti, where it has been for 20 years.

The business these days has three directors – Julie Lanauze, Carol-Anne Stewart and Campbell Gibbons. Julie works the market stall every Saturday.

Julie’s father-in-law, Brian Lanauze started the business – he is a well known Dunedin baker – and the name of the business is a tribute to him as it is his nickname, being as how he loved reading Beano comics. Beano also means “feast” – something that our eyes do at the Otago Farmers Market every Saturday looking at Beano’s Bakery’s display of luscious goods.

Beano's have a staggering array of baked goods including cakes, slices, biscuits, pastries and treats for the children.

Julie loves good food and likes to be able to offer consistent, affordable , quality product in her business. Carol-Anne and Julie love researching different product ideas. They get inspiration from cafes, and appreciate feedback from customers and friends and family.
