This Week at the Farmers Market

11th December 2021

Hi there

D7929CC8-E206-4533-ACE9-A58B1AA39913.jpeg

Peas in a pod, gooseberries, berry berries (just teasing you) & cherry cherries, it’s that time of year!

The Mosgiel Brass Band are back this week as well as Simon from Rosedale Orchard with cherries again.  We celebrate all things cheery cherry this week!  Earnscleugh Orchard have a wide variety to choose from (mine were lovely & sweet from there last week) or have a chat to John & Pete at Willowbrook Orchard for crunchy apples & cherries also.  Saturday is also #useyourowncupday – it should be second nature to us all to carry our own cup these days anyhow, after all most of us are responsible adults. All our beverage vendors are more than happy for you to bring your own cup, mug, jar or keep cup to fill & for that matter many of the added value vendors will fill any of your containers with biscuits, cake, fresh pasta, sprouts, ready to eat takeaways, etc.

Our Christmas Market will be on FRIDAY 24th December this year (NOT on Saturday) & the following market is FRIDAY 31st Dec. 8am - 11am.

Remember too, that only all our authenticated, verified Otago Farmers Market vendors are all within our gates, who have our tick of approval.  Make sure you support them inside the Market carpark & platform & you will get a quality product.

And a reminder that food & beverages are to be taken OUT of the Market to be consumed, as masks should be kept ON at all times.

We look forward to seeing you all this weekend!  Bring your cash, bags, keep cup or mug, containers, mask & charged phone for scanning (we don't require vaccination passports as we come under retail, are outdoor & are endorsing safe practice & distancing).

Did you know we sell Otago Farmers Gift Vouchers at the caravan?  Great for those hard to buy for people in your life or as a thank you.  Cash or bank transfer accepted & they can be spent at any of our wide variety of stalls.

Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!  And it’s only 3x Markets till Christmas Day.

Wild Venison is a Kiwi favourite and has been around for the last 100 or so years. Pure organic Wild Venison is fantastic to cook and makes any BBQ amazing.

We have started to work alongside Alpine Deer NZ, a company steeped in NZ history of wild venison recovery. Their passion is quality and top service. So, we are excited to be able to supply their Wild Venison, harvested from around Otago High country, at the Otago Farmers Market. Racks, Tenderloins, Back Steaks etc. Come and have a look at what we have to offer.

Hi great to see you all at the market last weekend.

We will bring more fresh, delicious, big, gorgeous cherries this Saturday; plus some of your favourite cherries including DAWSON and SONNET, and more varieties.

Hopefully if the weather is hot enough, we will bring the 1st of our peaches 🍑... yummy so fingers crossed 🤞.

Honey available this week: Thyme, Honeycomb, Clover, Manuka.

REMEMBER:  PRE ORDER your Christmas cherries to collect at our CHRISTMAS EVE MARKET (24th December 🎅) Just txt your interest to Sher 021 455341 and we will confirm the fruit we have. (Cherries, apricots, and peaches). You can pay online and just collect before the market closes at 11am. Or chat to us at the market this Saturday. 😊

Dunford Grove

Look at these, just about to burst into flower!  And two weeks ahead of most years.

If we get a great fruit set, we’ll have heaps of olives looking like little bunches of grapes, fingers crossed.

Did you know?

Olives are biennial, a good year followed by a not so good.  This year is definitely looking like an “on” year (but I probably shouldn’t have said it!).
