This Week at the Farmers Market

12th June 2021

Hi there

UYO Banner Square1.jpeg

Did you see the nice new banner that was gifted to us from Laura at UYO NZ (Use Your Own) at the Market?  We really encourage you to bring your own containers, vege bags, vendor jar returns, cups, etc.  Eventually it will be just the norm & a habit, like taking our own bags & keep cups is for many of us already.

Was nice to see an old familiar face back at the Market last weekend at the Willowbrook Orchard stall with John Gilchrist selling his fruit again after his recuperation, welcome back John.  And it was sad to say goodbye for the last time to Wes at Te Mahanga.

You will find plenty of colourful winter vegies with our primary producers, at the moment & I look forward to trying Deb's smoked fish pate!

Hope you are all keeping warm & well.  Short & sweet from me this week.

Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!

See you Saturday….

Ngā mihi

Back to the market this Saturday with all the goodies, so good, you don’t have to be vegan to love them!

As winter is at our door, it’s time to boost your immune system.  One way to look after it, is to introduce some good bacteria to your tummy, so they won’t let the bad ones come in (this is a simple version of the story).  Fermented food is full of good bacteria, it can improve your health.  It is unique to the Farmer’s Market to try a sample; come to my stall to have a little taste. For the curious, sceptics, lovers, and experts, you are all welcome! See you there!  Marie

NZ Nuts This Weekend

valda.jpg

Greetings,  Some grey days in Cromwell this week - perfect weather for getting office work up to date - and that included changing our email address - so if you communicate with us via email please remove our old address (nznuts@xtra.co.nz) and put in our new one nuts@nznuts.co.nz.  Thank you.

I’ve sent another batch of walnuts halves and pieces shelled last week so Olivia has a good stock of these again this week along with in shell walnuts.  We are now out of almonds till next year and out of the Gold size walnuts ...... and we still have bags of smaller sized Vina and Franquette walnuts on special at $10/kg.

Have a good week and stay warm!  Valda
