This Week at the Market

14th May 2020

Hi there

So very excited to be opening the market again this Saturday!! We will have about 40 vendors trading, the sun looks as though it might shine and we are mighty happy! We would also like to give a huge shout out to all of you who supported our vendors who were able to have an online delivery service. It all helps enormously.

Obviously we will be taking all necessary precautions to ensure everyone’s safety this Saturday.  Please see the article below with the details. It will be important to be patient and to be kind to each other. Please don’t paw through all the fresh produce and be sure to use the hand sanitiser that will be dotted around the market. Wash your hands thoroughly before you leave home and once you get back again before and after unpacking your goodies.

With everything that has been going on we haven’t taken the opportunity to farewell a few vendors who have left the market. Miri from Jacobs Dream will sadly not be returning to the market, Katie from Perk Up Mobile Espresso has also left to explore other career opportunities, Anet from Salad Days has sadly left us and Thomas from Straight up Vegan who is going to be concentrating on his new business Burger Plant, rather than spreading himself too thin. We are very sorry to farewell these vendors and wish them all the best with the future.

 See you Saturday!

Best regards

Dunford Grove

Deja vu!  A friend sent this photo of ours in all its autumnal spender, not too dissimilar to the shot in the ODT back in 2014 that first attracted us to this place.

Did you know?

Otago people support local!  A massive thank you to all for the on-line orders over the last few weeks.

I'm writing this early in the week so, hopefully we'll be down a level by the weekend and get to see each other again!

Stop Press: Our olives are not quite ready to harvest yet and there's a frost in the forecast for Saturday morning 🙄.  If we get frosted, we've lost the fruit.  Apologies, I might not make it this week, I will if I can, but may be a little late!

Havoc Farm Pork

Havoc Farm Pork has managed to keep many of the market regulars supplied, through their various retail partners and home delivery, but they've also built up a bit of product in the freezer, with their regular restaurant customers being closed.
This means some great opportunities for you:
For example:
Frozen Scotch Fillet: 8-10kg bags of either rind on or off delicious scotch fillets. Probably the most versatile cut of them all. It’s tasty tender, tender and versatile. You can do anything with it. Will sell at $10/kg for pre-orders.
Frozen Half Ham on Bone: Approx. 4.5kg each, available for $65 each. Almost half the usual price.
Frozen Cheek Nuggets: 1 - 2kg bags. These are delicious, delicate little morsels, great in a curry slow-cooked. Usually these go to fancy restaurants but we have a few at $25/kg.
Some frozen bacon, sliced ham and sausages all at half the normal price.
Would be great if you can pre-order so we bring down enough product.
Thank-you for your love and support during lock down. We can't wait to see you all back at NZ's best market every Saturday.
