This Week at the Market

16th April 2020

Hi there

evansdale cheese.jpg

The storm over Easter and beyond certainly brought home the realisation that the seasons are

changing. Snow down to low levels has had us all hankering for comfort, hearty food and the two

recipes below certainly fit the bill.

I received this beautiful box of Evansdale cheeses this morning. Oh my what a treasure trove, I’m

conjuring up waldorf salad ideas with the Bay Blue and various other, slightly decadent treats with

the others. Mmmmmmm

As I am writing this I am listening to Prime Minister Ardern update the nation on the alert levels

going forward and what we can expect when we move to level 3 next week. What this means for the

farmers market and our vendors is still unclear but we may see more of our vendors move into

offering online items such as ready to eat food and added value items. We will keep you appraised

of any changes via this newsletter and social media platforms.

In the meantime stay safe, look after each other, support your local community and think about

starting a garden if you don’t currently have one. Autumn is a great time to gather up leaves and

begin building lasagne style compost piles.

We’ve got his, peeps … keep abiding by the rules and we will be at alert level 2 in no time and at that

time, I think, we will see the farmers market resume semi-normal operations. And won’t that be the

most wonderful thing!!! In the meantime please support our vendors who are able to offer online

ordering and to the door delivery services.

Take care

Kate

This Week in the kitchen

I decided you can't go wrong with all things orange & yellow to cheer us up. Delving deep into our online recipe archives for something hearty and warming, found this Pumpkin Thai Red Curry which would be perfect this week if you happen to have a pumpkin in the house just begging to be cooked.  Jamalia also has something yellow for you to cook this week to spice up your mornings!  We hope you enjoy & hunker down!

Judge Rock Wines Online

JR Pinot grapes.jpg

Hope you are well in these very strange times.

We had a very strange harvest late last week, 2mt apart, sanitizing everything, masks on and no shared food or after work drinks!

All the usual range of judge Rock wines are available from our online sales website.

This vineyard grew from an idea that with love of the land and attention to detail our site would make great Pinot Noir and St Laurent. International sommeliers and wine competitions like Decanter, International Wines and Spirits Challenge, and Air New Zealand Wine awards have all awarded our wines gold after gold after gold.  www.judgerock.co.nz

Kind regards Angela & Paul

The first blush of colour on the olives this week, fingers crossed for lots of sun and no frosts for the next 4-5 weeks!
How's everybody doing?  Getting through your "lists"?  I've started the daunting task of tidying the shed, only been putting it off for close to five years!
Did you know?
Olive oil is great for the skin!  Olive oil contains vitamin E, which improves skin health by treating inflammation, acne, and dryness. It also improves skin elasticity and its regenerative properties. The anti-oxidants, minerals and good fats, fight the free radicals, and facilitate healthy and fuller skin respectively.
