Easter week & YES we are open!  Stock up on the Easter ingredients & treats for you, your family and friends.  There will be a few vendors away this weekend but there will still be plenty to eat, drink & stock up on for the fridge & pantry.  Samples are allowed back for you to try before you buy too.  A taste sensation as you do the Market circuit & listen to the Valley Blue Grass Band & Jason Barrett will be on sax at the other end & maybe one or two other musicans.

We encourage mask use & respecting everyone’s space within the Market while we still have high cases in our community even though we are now in the Orange setting.

For those of you who are stuck at home we have a few vendors that can deliver to your door during the weekGilberts Fine Foods, Ettrick Gardens, Waewae, Ronia & Pippi, Agreeable Nature Eggs, Blue Mountain Butchery, Tartan Sari, Dunford Grove, Evansdale Cheese, Oamaru Organics, Harbour Fish, Havoc Pork, Blueskin Bay Honey, Wild Dispensary, Judge Rock Wines, Hazelnut Estate, Matheson & Roberts, Whitestone Cheese, Breads & More, Dunedin Craft Distillery, Waitaki Orchard, Princes St Butchery & others.  All their contact details you can find on our website www.otagofarmersmarket.org.nz under vendors.

Vote for your favourite farmers market & vendor below if you haven’t already to go into the nationwide drawer to find the best in NZ!

Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!  And please respect everyone’s space.   Take care of each other & thanks for supporting local where you can.  And I hope you are doing ok this week.

This Week in the kitchen

Happy Easter all!  I have found some perfect recipes from the archive to indulge in this Easter weekend, all easily made from ingredients found at the market. I added a couple roast veggie options as it is defiantly appropriate for the weather (and maybe good to balance out all the chocolate!). Enjoy the rest of your week, I look forward to seeing you all at the Market this Saturday!  Bella (Assistant Manager)

Happy Easter people! Do you like our egg-shaped beauties?

An olive tree turns sunshine into oil, we’ve had a really good summer for sunshine hours, so the colour is just starting to turn. Looks like harvest this year will be about three weeks early!

Did you know?

New Zealand has a little over 300 olive groves growing 350,000 trees and totalling about 2,130 hectares. The largest grower boasts 40,000 trees while over 70% of groves have less than 1,000 trees.

This country consumes over 4.5 million litres of olive oil a year and not all of it is extra virgin, local producers account for about 12% of this total and practically all of it is Extra Virgin Olive Oil!  Sandy

Hello Pickle lovers, I am so excited to be offering tastings again, I have even made some special gluten-free seed crackers to celebrate.

Our pickles and chutneys will make a fabulous addition to your Easter menu, come and tell me what you are making and I will be able to recommend the perfect pairing.

Also, we have entered our Zucchini and Orange & Lemon pickles into the Outstanding Food Producers awards. Come and have a taste and let us know what you think!

Wishing you a Spicy weekend!
