This Week at the Farmers Market

20th February 2021

Hi there

John Willowbrook .jpeg (5)

Well, that’s been a topsy turvy week hasn’t it?  We certainly look forward to supplying you with an abundance of fresh product from the wider Otago region this weekend & welcoming returning & new students to Dunners.  Remember, you can often get the best & freshest fruit & vege deals at the Market each weekend & more often than not, spray free or organic.  And the famous Bacon Buttie or a La Crepe are a rite of passage here (but there are lots of other ready to eat brunch options & fresh juices, coffees, etc to keep you happy!).

I’m happy to hear the good news that dear John Gilchrist from Willowbrook Orchard (seen here with Erny from Hammerhead/Zestt Wellness visiting him in hospital) finally got that hip sorted this week, with a hip replacement (we will see him back no doubt sooner rather than later zipping about as he’s a hard man to keep away from the Market or putting his feet up!). It'll be good to see him standing vertically again!  In the meantime Pete, his son will be running the show at the Market with plenty of stone fruit from the family orchard.

Remember to scan in at any of our entrances, so have those phones charged! Stay away if unwell & bring cash, as many vendors only accept cash & enjoy a sunny warm weekend, we are pretty lucky down here!

See you on Saturday….

Ngā mihi

No.8 Distillery

no8 lemoncello.png

We have a new batch of Limoncello for the zesty citrus zealots at the Farmers’ Market. The drop concentrates the citrus burst and avoids saccharine overload by using two varietals of lemon: Yen Ben and Meyer, both of which are organic and are wax and pesticide-free. Limoncello is often drunk chilled or with ice. We recommend pouring it over your desert or into your coffee. Michael likes to flavour his yerba mate with a bit when the cold wind blows along the railway platform.
