Hi there
It really was wonderful to open last Saturday. It was a relatively quiet market which gave us the opportunity to bed in our new contact tracing systems. It was such a beautiful day made even better by the obvious pleasure of vendors, customers and staff to be back at the market. Thank you for your support for those who attended or those who brought online from us last week, our vendors really appreciate this, especially now.
This week we are expecting many more vendors to be back and hopefully more customers. We will be continuing to take contact details. Please remember to bring your smart phone (if you have one) with a QR code scanner app downloaded. If you came last week it will be super easy and fast for you to scan our QR code as you enter because all your details will be there from last week. That is, of course, only if you went through the QR code process last week! Also please continue to be mindful of keeping 1 metre apart and using the hand sanitiser dotted around the market.
We are welcoming a new vendor this week. Dolce Vita will start with their gorgeous selection of traditional cakes from around the world. You will find Olesia up on the platform.
Best regards
Kate

This Week in the kitchen
Throwback Thursday, dipping back into the archives.... (we have plenty of recipes from our Market Kitchen up on our website under Recipes).
Grab some nice firm pears from Willowbrook Orchard, Rosedale Orchard or Ettrick Gardens this weekend at the market to whip up this Cabbaslaw recipe - a great way to get your 5+ in alongside something heartier for dinner.
This Potato Parkin is an oldie but a goodie. Great for using up left over mashed potatoes. Eat as is or with a dollop of jam! Caithness Farm also have great potatoes perfect for this recipe.

Locavore Boxes - Fresh, Local, Just For You
|
We are all very excited to be back in action at the Farmers Market, none more so than our vendors! But we understand that for some of you, it’s still a bit too soon to be venturing out. You’re still keen to support local growers and makers, and here’s a way you can do that:
Locavore Boxes include produce from a number of Otago Farmers Market growers and producers in their boxes: Veg from Oamaru Organics, Janefield Hydroponics, Caithness Farm, Wairuna Organics, bread from Gilbert’s, dairy produce from Holy Cow, Kombucha from Kapowai, eggs from Agreeable Nature, tomatoes from Kakanui Produce and fruit and veg from Rosedale Orchard. They also source from other local producers not found at the market: BL Beekeeping (based on the Taieri), Roastery Door coffee from South Dunedin, Vern Paddock Produce from Mihiwaka. That means you can still support your local growers, buying locally grown /produced food - with the added bonus of having it delivered to your door! Check their website - www.locavoreboxes.co.nz

La Crepe is Back!
|
Dear Beautiful People,
I’ll be brief.
8 weeks without seeing you all has challenged my real purpose in life.
8 weeks without eating a crepe is too long!
I’ve decided to decrease some of our prices as a result of this ordeal.
You’ll notice a change at our stall: 2 clear screens to protect all of us from potential contamination. Hopefully, they will go asap, this is my wish.

Getting sorted for harvest. We'll be harvesting this weekend so unfortunately no Market for us! Big thank you to all who came along, said hello and purchased last weekend, great to see you and meet those of you who introduced yourselves.
Did you know?
The olives shake off the tree much better when the temperature is warmer. So here's hoping for slight breezes overnight to keep the frost at bay and lovely sunny days!
