Hi there
Writing to you on Earth Day. A good reminder we all need to do more & make change, however little or small we can make a difference. I know I certainly need to do more, but I do try mostly. Food scraps into my bokashi (highly recommend these if you don’t already have a compost bin) which go into my vege garden, buying second hand, always having my keep mug handy, using recyclable refillable where possible, choosing glass options over plastic, supporting local growers who aren’t selling products in plastic where possible (more Market vendors are now selling in free-flow, compostable or paper bags options which is good to see more of, but customer demand can make a change), buying organic or spray free. I know I could go even more plant-based but I do love the great quality & taste of meat, cheeses & milk here at the Market & they are all sustainably farmed & locally grown. My overseas travel footprint has gone-burger so at least that’s a saving on the planet…for now. Remembering cutlery & re-usable containers if you do takeout’s, not washing cars on the street, etc, etc, all those little decisions we make need to be the BIG questions. What am I, doing? What are you doing?
It’s ANZAC weekend, a time for reflection for many of us, we will be open as usual for all your supplies & brunch needs. We have had a few busy weekends while the sun is out, thanks to all who came along & supported our local farmers & producers. And for those enjoying the school holidays we welcome you!
Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!
See you there.

Have you tried my gourmet low sugar jam? Most of commercial jam contains 40 to 50% of sugar, mine are between 20 to 24%, so it means more fruit and definitely more flavour! Less sugar is better for your health, so it is a double win. The fruit I use are from the Farmer’s Market or from my own garden (spray free of course).
This Saturday our PANCAKES SANDWICH SPECIAL is a combination of low sugar strawberry jam, vegan custard (made of fresh almond milk, cashew nut, coconut cream and chia seed) and roasted hazelnut (Hazelnut Estate from our Market) $7.50
There will be also some samples for you to try and see for yourself the difference in flavour, see you there!

Wildlife Hospital Street Appeal
The Wildlife Hospital Student's Association is a student led group whose goal is to raise money and spread awareness for the Dunedin Wildlife Hospital. This Saturday we will be at the Farmer's Market for our annual street appeal to support the Hospital.
The Wildlife Hospital is a veterinary facility specialising solely in the treatment of native New Zealand wildlife. They are a not-for-profit charity who rely heavily on the generosity and kindness of their donors. Prior to its establishment in 2018, patients had to travel long distances to receive treatment. Now they can be treated quickly and with high rates of success, which has been a tremendous benefit to our precious native species.
