Shop Local, Rain or Shine!

25th of October 2018

Hi there

Otago Farmer's Market-92.jpg

What a week it has been so far! We have been working on our new trailer to get it ready to be at the market this Saturday. We waved good bye to the old site office through the week. Fond memories but more than ready to embrace the new! Excitement is currently mounting as the new trailer gets fitted out and moved over to the market site. We now have hot water and a few other luxuries previously unheard of.

To top off how good a week it is proving to be we will have asparagus at the market this week (and a rumour of Jersey Benne potatoes the week after). You will need to get in quick as the supply is limited. How good was it to have fresh strawberries last week? YUM!

See you Saturday

Kate

Edable Salad.jpg

There will be Globe Artichokes, along with our ever popular “Taste Sensation” salad bags with Edible flowers. We will also have Fresh Herb Bunches, including lots of parsley and mint, also Dried Herb Packs and a selection of our Herbal Teas. We will also have, in limited supply, $2.00 bunches of both Chard and Kale and $3.00 packs of Puha ( a new product for us). In limited supply also will be our Victoria Rhubarb. This is the small but beautiful, tasty variety, that keeps its colour and shape when cooked.

Tiger Worms for all composting systems. Order them when you see us at the market or contact us to place your order through our Kanuka Organics Facebook page . We package these in recycled 2L ice-cream boxes, which hold about 1000 worms, for a cost of $10.00 per pack. You can return those boxes to us for reuse and we also welcome donations of used ice-cream boxes.

Well Yvette hasn't been too happy here all alone since the demise of her sister, so she's off for a bit of a trim then to join the happy flock at Moorpark & Mulberrys' animal retreat and spa!
Esther will be at the Market this week with our Gold Medal winning oil and more. We're off to a couple of Canterbury Christmas Fetes to wave the Central Otago banner!

Did you know?
Olive oil has a higher proportion of monounsaturated fats than animal fat, which is often high in saturated fat. Studies have indicated that if you replace saturated fats with monounsaturated fats, you can lower your risk of coronary heart disease.

Blind Week Appeal At the Gates this Week

download.png

*Apologies for listing this in the newsletter by accident last week! The Blind Week Appeal will be at the gate THIS coming Saturday, the 27th of October.*

Blind Week is the time of year when we celebrate New Zealanders who are blind or have low vision living their lives without limits. It’s an opportunity for people to share their stories, and inspire others to do the same.

Today at least three more New Zealanders will be told that they are losing their sight. The aim of Blind Foundation is to provide practical and emotional support to these people, enabling them to face their future with confidence.

With your help this Blind Week, we can reach more people in your community who are blind or have low vision.

Stop by and say hello this Saturday!
