Hi there
So, it's official, summer is over, the real autumn is here since the autumn equinox passed this week. Hope you are all managing ok around everything that is going on & the interruptions in our lives. Get on down this weekend for plenty of autumnal fruit & vegies if you are able. Masks are still a requirement (unless you are exempt) for farmers markets as I write this. We fall under retail & even though we are outdoors please respect 1mt distancing so everyone can feel safer while shopping & please stay home & rest if you are sick. We are still in still in the midst of the pandemic here in Otago, hopefully things will start to ease in the coming weeks.
Congrats go to our winner on social media (with a bag of Market goodies to celebrate National Farmers Market week last week) to Joseph Chagger with his lovely entry on his favourite vendors – “If this was asked just over a year ago my answer would be easy: Joe and Wild Larder RIP Joe, your presence and smile are sorely missed. Nowadays… it would have to be Oamaru Organics. Honourable mentions to Gilbert’s, Harbour Fish and Who Ate All The Pies, and the organic stall kind-of next to Havoc whose name escapes me”. We had a wonderful response & shoutout of all your favourite Market vendors. Thank you!
For those of you who are stuck at home we have a few vendors that can deliver to your door, Gilberts Fine Foods, Ettrick Gardens, Waewae, Ronia & Pippi, Agreeable Nature Eggs, Blue Mountain Butchery, Tartan Sari, Dunford Grove, Evansdale Cheese, Oamaru Organics, Harbour Fish, Havoc Pork, Blueskin Bay Honey, Wild Dispensary, Judge Rock Wines, Hazelnut Estate, Matheson & Roberts, Whitestone Cheese, Breads & More, Dunedin Craft Distillery, Waitaki Orchard, Princes St Butchery & others. All their contact details you can find on our website www.otagofarmersmarket.org.nz under vendors.
Remember, that only all our authenticated, verified Otago Farmers Market vendors are all within our gates, who have our tick of approval. Make sure you support them inside the Market carpark & platform & you will get a quality product.
Bring CASH as some of our vendors are cash only.
Remember your keep cup, return jars & containers to keep the ReUse cycle loop working & bags for vegies & fruit. All of our Ready to Eats are more than happy to fill your container or bowl to take home with you.
Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market! Take care of each other & thanks for supporting local where you can.
Ngā mihi

This Week in the kitchen
This week I found the perfect recipes (in our website archives) for the weather that is slowly getting colder. They are all great recipes for meal prepping and are easy to prepare which is perfect as the year keeps getting busier. The Spanish peaches are the perfect combination with breakfast cereals. Looking forward to seeing to seeing everyone this weekend!

Not a sight that you’d expect in the middle of the day in Wellington! A lovely week away. It was great to meet young Louis, and time spent with the kids is always good. I’ll be back on the platform this week, and hopefully, the Market won’t resemble the airport!
Did you know?
Numerous studies have shown that consuming Extra Virgin Olive Oil can have many benefits for our health. For example, the Spanish Predimed study showed that women who ate a Mediterranean diet supplemented with EVOO had a 62% lower risk of breast cancer compared to those on a low-fat diet.
