This Week at the Farmers Market

27th November 2021

Hi there

Urbn Vino gift pack.jpeg

Next week is summer & the summer crops are just around the corner!  The early strawberries are already available for those customers who wake with the sparrows to shop at Rodgers stall (Janefield’s) & Ettrick’s just inside the gate.  Speaking of gates, as of last week we re-opened the south & north gates (& we still have the main gate open).  Please scan in & hand sanitize at all our gates & wear your mask, especially going forth.

With only 5 more Markets before Christmas day, it’s time to get cracking with gift ideas if you are sending away to loved ones.  Tartan Sari have gorgeous gift boxes of pickles all beautifully wrapped & Danielle will personalize it for you if ask.  Also Urbn Vino will post off gift boxes with goodies from the Market if you want to send a tipple & taste of Otago from the range & Brendan is happy to add whatever you want to put into the box with other purchases from the Market.  He’ll send it all off for you to make it stressfree – have a chat to him up on the platform.  The Porridge Bar hope to be back on 11th December for those asking & they will have plenty of Christmas gift products as well. We have our Market MAP Range of hand illustrated local tea towels, gift cards & beeswax wraps & Market Gift Vouchers at the Market caravan at the main gate (the black caravan), swing by & say hello (cash only or online banking).

Our Christmas market will be on FRIDAY 24th December this year (NOT on Saturday) & the following market is FRIDAY 31st Dec.

Chris & Viv from Kakanui Produce are back this weekend (after waiting for the growing cycle to play catch-ups back at base) with new season courgettes, jersey benne & highlander spuds.

Remember too, that only all our authenticated, verified Otago Farmers Market vendors are all within our gates, who have our tick of approval.  Make sure you support them inside the Market carpark & platform & you will get a quality product.

The same protocols are in place this week, mask wearing (unless you have an exemption or for children), scanning in & please keep the 2 METRE DISTANCING & stay away if you are feeling unwell please.

We ask if you could please take coffee & food off site to eat from our many ready to eat vendors that way we can keep it swiftly happening for everyone into the Market to shop & leave.

We look forward to seeing you all this weekend!  Bring your cash, bags, keep cup or mug, containers, mask & charged phone for scanning.

Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!  See you there.

So much rain, these guys have made a home here!  The rain plus some seriously hot days = hours on the mower!

I’m off to the Southern Artisan Christmas Fete this weekend but Zander will be on the platform with all our usual products.

Sorry no EFT-POS this Saturday.

Did you know?

Researchers found Extra Virgin Olive Oils high in polyphenols lowered the risk of contamination from common food-borne pathogens by up to 90 percent.  Sandy

Run Rabbit Ltd.

Mafaldine_plain_01.jpg

I hope it's as sunny in Dunedin as it is up here in Tarras!

Run Rabbit has chilli cheese & onion marmalade ravioli this week, along with rosemary & black pepper fettuccine, octopus legs and our usual chickpea pastas. We will also have an egg-free wheat flour tagliatelle available for our vegan/plant-based diet customers (actually, the chickpea pasta is also egg-free).

See you on Saturday.
