This Week at the Farmers Market

29th May 2021

Hi there

920CA581-D10C-41E7-9B0A-419548AC03C9.jpeg

At this rate, we will all be frost hardy here in Dunedin in no time at all after 3 nights of it & Central has really hit the polar plunges this week (where they really are hardy folk!). The yams appeared last weekend for the first of the season, frost sweet & plucked early.  Nigel at Oamaru Organics is allowing the farm to have a growth catch-up this week after the icy conditions & will be back the following weekend but John & Heather at Ettrick Gardens + Roger at Janefields, Wes at Te Mahanga,  Simon at Rosedale & Earnscleugh Orchard will still have loads of fresh produce & Coastal Kaps are back with their oyster mushrooms.

Rug up warm & dry & shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!

See you Saturday….

What to do if you get sick...Some advice from Skye Macfarlane and the Wild Dispensary Crew

As much as we try, sometimes it happens, especially during the winter months. So, what should you do if you catch those pesky ills and chills? Research suggests that those first 3 days are the most crucial to your recovery:

Have some serious rest...Stay in bed! You need it.
Drink plenty of liquids...water, broth and hot tonics.
Regular dosing of Immunity Tonic (5 x 10ml daily).
Some high dose Vitamin C and Zinc.
Throat spray to ease your sore throat.
If you can, get outside and lap up that vitamin D.
Used alongside medical advice and other support if necessary the use of elderberry (like in our Immunity Tonic) and other herbs are perfect for helping support our bodies through times of illness such as the flu.

Skye’s at the stand this week and is happy to chat your health needs over, or where to get the best coffee in town. Come say hello and have a chat this Saturday.

Also: Buy any 2 products and receive a free Daily Boost -200ml (A rich plant-based vitamin and mineral supplement for energy and recovery) Valid 29thMay Only.

As always reach out to our Naturopath/Medical Herbalist if you need any more advice on skye@wilddispensary.co.nz or Ruth with any plant or general queries info@wilddispensary.co.nz

Hazelnut Estate

hazelnuts great shot.jpg

Thanks for the wonderful feedback that we received last week from our customers who were the first to sample our exciting new product - Hazelnut chocolate spread.  Apologies to those who missed out, we will be bringing more to the market this Saturday. Our hazelnut spread contains only 5 ingredients (Hazelnuts 66%, Dark Chocolate 33%, Coconut Oil & Himalayan Salt & Vanilla).  It is delicious on toast, bread and for a special treat drizzle a little over ice cream.

Don't forget we will also be selling our premium dry roasted hazelnuts and hazelnut flour.

Many thanks.  Janine & Roger.
