Every week thousands of our customers know how to shop wisely for the freshest & best price.  We have winter vegies aplenty and apples & pears are still in good supply direct from the growers.  As usual we have lots of brunch & hot drink options to dine in outside (or up on the platform undercover) & many of our vendors have samples for you to try before you buy. And farewell to Sher & Rob at Earnscleugh Orchard this week as they disappear for the season till the cherry season is back.

Remember your keep cup, return jars & containers to keep the ReUse cycle loop working & bags for vegies, fruit & even bread. Look out for our ReUse posters on vendors stalls on that can accept packaging back.

Vendor Highlights:  The Port Larder.  Di Noone loves home preserving. She makes homemade sauces, pesto’s, crackers, tapenade, relishes, fruit jellies & pastes & lots more the old-fashioned way.  Using authentic heirloom recipes which she has adapted, she utilizes local produce supplied from all around the Otago Farmers Market to make products for her cottage industry - The Port Larder.  Her tasty and real artisan range is made small batch in recycled jars.  She encourages her customers to return the clean, empty jars each week.

The Port Larder supply a number of cafes around the city who rely on her homemade chutneys to enhance their popular dishes.  She has many top sellers like the Indian date chutney, various seasonal pesto flavours & tapenade for her repeat & new customers.  She likes to hero the fresh ingredients she buys at the Market.  She says her local fruit jams taste like they did as a kid, with simply the fruit as the star.  Her tomato sauce has less than a quarter of the sugar than more commercial sauces, so these are popular for children. 

Each week there is often something new from the season to look forward to at her stall.  She has many old-fashioned recipes, often little known to a younger population, but nostalgic for many of us (how we remember preserves & sauces used to taste!).  Di enjoys seeing her customers buy the labours of her love & engaging with them each weekend and we are pleased that she keeps these traditions going.

Come up onto the platform, and look for our RED VAN. We bring a huge variety of fruit from ALEXANDRA on the EARNSCLEUGH.

FREE TASTING AT OUR STALL.... please come and try before you buy.

We still have a fantastic range of ORGANIC APPLES including: Lady in Red, Honeycrisp, Jazz, Koru, and Braeburn.

Plus-Spray Free Granny Smith Apples.

Plus asure quality apples:  Royal Gala, Red Delicious, Nancy Fizz, Pacific Queen, and Fuji.

Plus asure quality pear range:  Bosc pear, DDC "ice cream" pear, Winter Nellis Pear, and Concord pear.

Remember you can MIX the SAME PRICED fruit in one paper bag and get a wee taste of Central.

We have Stan's ORGANIC (non-sulphur) Apple chips (Plain and Cinnamon). Come have a FREE taste.

We’re down to the pointy end of this years harvest- Blending! We pick, process and rank each variety individually then blend for taste. Here, we’re sorting the ratios for the bulk blend. Some years the ratio comes out exactly as if we’d picked and processed with no mind to variety, maybe the property and terroir know best?

Certification is next. The Olive Mark on the bottle is your guarantee that the bottle contains exactly that, Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Look for this when you buy.

Community Stall: Stroke Foundation of New Zealand

Stroke Foundation of New Zealand will have a stall at this Saturday's market. They will be selling their 2022 range of beanies to raise money for a great cause, perfect for winter too!



We encourage MASK USE at the Market currently.
