Hi there
Kia Ora! Michele is taking a well deserved break while she can, before the Christmas/Summer rush begins, but I'll do my best to look after everyone! The good news is that Nigel from Oamaru Organics will be back this week, with his amazing certified organic produce, we know a lot of people have been asking about him. Juiced Up will also be back up on the platform this weekend, with their refreshing fresh juices. Waewae Permaculture were welcomed back last week in Wes from Te Mahanga's old spot, so you can find them down there. Stonehurst Mushrooms were also back with their mushroom products and grow your own herby goodness (which you can see in the main photo.) A new addition was Run Rabbit Ltd. with their fresh pasta and sauces, which I may or may not have gorged on over the long weekend...
It's Halloween this Sunday, one of my favourite celebrations, despite it being the wrong season down here in the southern hemisphere, it being spring and all. But still, a great excuse to get into silly costumes and celebrate the upcoming summer months, with the sun and warmth slowly making itself known. It's so lovely seeing all the beautiful blooming flowers all around the market again, including my favs, big blowsy Peonies.
These new cases in Christchurch are an unwelcome reminder that we still need to be vigilant with masking up & scanning in etc. The same protocols are in place this week, mask wearing (unless you have an exemption or for children), scanning in & keeping the 2mt distancing. Please use the MAIN MIDDLE GATE on Anzac Ave & depart from there as well (all other gates are blocked off). If you are parking in the north carpark, please walk around to the main front gate, this is so we can track numbers. There should be an easy flow in again this week, so don't let it put you off!
We ask if you could please take coffee & food off site to eat from our many ready to eat vendors that way we can keep the flow happening for everyone quickly into the Market to shop.
We look forward to seeing you all this weekend! Bring your cash, bags, keep cup or mug, containers, mask & charged phone for scanning.
Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!

This Week in the kitchen
I've been digging up recipes from the archives like Nigel has been digging up his new potatoes... ok, not quite as labour intensive or dirty... But I have found some tasty treats, making use of all the produce from our Market vendors! A different yummy take on how to eat a radish and two potato recipes, one super simple the other more involved, both delicious as. Kristina

Dunford Grove

Looks innocent enough now but come a frosty morning these things are clattering away all up and down the valley! Fortunately, the closest one to us is about half a kilometre away, not too noisy but we can still hear it!
A big thankyou to all who’ve come along to the Market these last weeks, it’s really appreciated.
Did you know?
Olives don’t flower until mid-December so no frost issues for us this time of year. Our house orchard is next to the lake so a bit warmer than the back of the property.
