Spring has sprung and true to form we are lining up to experience an arctic blast! But the days are getting longer and plants are flowering and sending out new growth in a very optimistic manner!

I just want to give a huge shout out to all our permanent vendors who week in and week out come to the market with their produce and products. Saturdays roll around really quickly and these hardy folks work incredibly hard to get to the market on such a regular basis. Be sure to thank your favourite vendor(s) this Saturday.

This Week in the kitchen

Jamalia is back this week to hero all the great products we have at the market.  Can’t wait to try her Mushroom and Walnut Cos Cups with Chipotle Sauce featuring the amazingly beautiful & healthy oyster mushrooms from Coastal Kaps from Karitane served in a perfectly formed crisp cos lettuce (natures serving dish!) from Janefield Hydroponic’s right here in Mosgiel.  Drizzled with the delicious vegan chipotle sauce (which I put on everything!) from Straight Up Vegan that will be one to try as you walk in the main gates at the market kitchen.

Our ‘Market Platter’ will be a regular feature at the Market Kitchen showcasing the best of the best at the market.  This week the beautiful smoked ‘Tania’ cheese from Evansdale Cheese with Gilberts date & walnut loaf with a spread of apple butter from The Porridge Bar – match made in heaven!  We really are lucky down here in Otago!
