This Week at the Market

8th August 2019

Hi there

mylks and juice.JPG

Exciting times at the market as we welcome back Goat Island Dairy,  Waikouaiti Gardens and Terracotta Plants. The goats have had their winter break and are now producing lots of milk which is udderly fantastic! And spring must be in the air if our wonderful plant vendors are returning.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting with the team from Ronia and Pippi. Good health radiates from these three gorgeous women. Petra and her two daughters Anika and Kiersten-Anna are the team that produce this range of dairy free mylks and cold pressed juices. Eating well is just a way of life for this family and it made sense for them to start selling their highly nutritious produces at the farmers market.

Their juices are dependent on seasonal produce but all aim to cleanse and foster great health. Where possible they procure fruit and vegetables from other vendors at the market and aim for organic where possible.

Their mylks are made from nuts or seeds and are blended with fresh spring water from Speights.

Petra is German and the girls were bought up on the stories of Astrid Lindgren, a Swedish writer who penned Ronia, the Robber’s Daughter and the Pippi Longstocking books. Hence the name of their business.

All Ronia and Pippi products are made on Friday night before the market, refrigerated overnight and transported in chilly bins with ice packs to the market on Saturday morning. They have a very attractive market stall with tastings of their mylks and juices available. They happily re-use bottles that are returned to them and have a hit rate of about 50% returns.

If you haven’t called by and tasted their products be sure to this weekend!

Best Regards

Kate
