This Week at the Farmers Market

8th May 2021

Hi there

F97D2A5A-6028-4259-9357-DA48B2920844.jpeg

Busy weekends continue this week with graduations for the next 2 Markets with Mother’s Day this weekend as well.  We have plenty of goodies & gift ideas as you wander around the various stalls.  Thinking of gift ideas for my Mother last weekend, I spied gorgeous boxed wheels of farmhouse brie from Evansdale, Judge Rock have the most beautiful apricot coloured ‘Innocent Rose’ organic wine from Central, Butlers Berries have juicy berry jam boxed trio’s to keep the toast tasty all winter & The Porridge Bar always have delightful jars of sunshine to remind us of summer in Central Otago.  I’m sure Olesia at Dolce Vita will surprise as usual with sweet treats up on the platform & Jo-Ann from Matheson’s will have made her affordable cottage garden posies.  Merrill under the tree in the south-end will have his usual fab floral buckets & his never-ending winning smile!  How about a glass jar of wild flower honey from Blueskin Bay Honey.  Rodger has dug up paeony or peony tubers (whichever way you decide to spell it!) this week from Janefield Hydroponics for the gift that keeps giving.  Urbn Vino has really cool smaller bottles of refillable Central Otago wines produced here in Dunedin by Brendan & Love & Cake will have refined sugar free & not so sugar free pretty cakes & sweets.  If you have a Mother or Grandmother or Mother figure in your life in Dunedin how about brunch at the Market as a suggestion, no need to make a booking!  Looking forward to seeing you & visitors to town.  And congrats to graduating students, you rock our town!

Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!

See you Saturday….

Hello Picklelovers.

It probably hasn’t escaped your attention that it is Mother’s Day this Sunday. If your mum loves it spicy come and see us at the market and grab her a treat. We’ll even give you a cute gift bag. Even better, grab a bottle of Goan Curry Paste and make her the delicious dinner she deserves!

We will have Venison this week.  Also, our sausages $9 (made with GF products). Now wrapped in paper in lots of 6, easing our environmental impact. And after rigorous testing, we have found the sausages keep fresher and freeze well.

Olive oil keeps better when stored in bulk so, we bottle little and often.  However, this is the last of the 2020 oil!  It will be labelled and ready for you on Saturday.

Did you know?  Olive oil changes colour over time.  Starting as an opaque green when first pressed, it becomes clearer and lighter until it's a golden colour.  Stored properly it is still Extra Virgin but not so pungent.  We usually sell out well before our oil gains a golden hue.

Thanks.

Sandy

Bay Rd won’t be at the market this weekend due to moving our factory to a new space and needing to catch up on a few things! Sorry for any inconvenience. We have just set up a new roaster and will be back next week with what we believe is a new and improved product. Thanks as always for the support over the past few years. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Cheers.  Mick, Mark, and Zoe
