This Week at the Farmers Market

9th October 2021

Hi there

C507C4B3-2BE2-44F3-947B-674A57861F19.JPG

We’ve got this down pat now, thanks everyone for working with us to keep operating by wearing your masks, scanning in & keeping the 2mt distancing.  We really appreciate everyone’s patience on this which looks like it will be the norm for little while longer yet.  In the meantime, I know some of you are away with school holidays, enjoy the freedom we have down here.  October is also Cheese Month – that can only be a good thing.  Evansdale Cheese & Whitestone Cheese always have lots of delicious options for you, check them out.

The same protocols are in place this week, mask wearing (unless you have an exemption or for children), scanning in & keeping the 2mt distancing.  Please use the MAIN MIDDLE GATE on Anzac Ave & depart from there as well (all other gates are blocked off).  If you are parking in the north carpark, please walk around to the main front gate, this is so we can track numbers.  There should be an easy flow in again this week.

We ask if you could please take coffee & food off site to eat from our many ready to eat vendors.  Crepes, Bacon Butties, Vegan Pancake Sandwhiches, Syrian Pizza, Authentic Mexican Street Food, Vegan Pizza, etc - ask us for directions at the Market caravan, we have tried them all!

You will find plenty of flowers, plants, veges & essential supplies again this weekend & coffee to go in the corners of the Market - Hussey & Laredo (south Railway building end, look for the cool yellow classic caravan selling Vanguard Coffee & bagels), Classic Cafe cart (in the north end with Allpress Coffee) & GUD Coffee (with Fat Cat Coffee in the Southern Anzac Ave corner) - all serve great coffee.

We look forward to seeing you all this weekend!  Bring your cash, bags, keep cups, containers, mask, charged phone for scanning.

Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market!

Hello Picklelovers. We managed to get our hands on some of Whitestone’s super special 10-year aged cheddar and boy did it bring back childhood memories! Growing up we only ever had this kind of cheese in the house, thanks to my Dad being a Mature Cheddar fanatic (is it a Scottish thing?), and I haven’t tasted anything this good in a long time. (He will be drooling all over his laptop when he reads this).

As it’s the school holidays, the kids and I decided to rustle up a yummy platter, and it was the perfect excuse to find out which of our pickles matched our cheesy treat best. We tried carrot…pretty good. We tried tomato…always good with cheese…and then we tried Apple. WOW, the taste combo was AMAZING! The rich, creamy vintage cheddar and the sweet, crunchy, spicy Apple are a match made in foodie heaven. Even my 13-year-old lad agrees! Go on, grab yours this weekend and try for yourself.

Dunford Grove

Check this out - the essence of Central Otago in spring!  Until we moved to the grove we were dedicated townies with no idea of the hundreds of hours of work in achieving such majestic perfection in fruit trees.  Now, I will never even think “you want how much?” when buying local fruit!  Did you know?   We prune for an open vase shape.  They say you should be able to throw a chicken through the tree, not sure how the bird would feel about this, or the SPCA!
