Every Week Brings Something New

7th December 2017

Hi there

We are so delighted to launch our new website and newsletter. Lots of hard work has gone in from lots of people and we are super happy with the result. There may be a few errors and some of the vendors stories need to be updated but like any good website it is a dynamic, interactive site that we hope you find engaging. We think it does our market proud.

The market was jumping on Saturday with oodles of delicious, fresh produce for sale. Wes from Te Mahanga is back this week, we have a new juice vendor starting and Wild Dispensary will be back for a few weeks with their herbal tonics.

Market merchandise is flying out the door as people see the value of buying gifts that promote sustainability. Market vouchers also make a wonderful gift for that person who has everything.

See you Saturday

Kate

Spot the olive tree! This is the view from one side of one hill near Cordoba, Spain. What You’re looking at is a minute percentage of the plantings here.  Just this view represents more that the total trees in New Zealand!

When you consider that the Spanish consume nearly one litre of extra virgin olive oil per person per month they need plenty of trees.

Hello everyone,

This weekend is my final day trading at the Otago Farmers Market.  The last couple of years have been such a joy, I have loved meeting you all and forming relationships with both vendors and customers.

My next venture involves trading on Thursdays and Saturdays from my wee bakery at 4 Ings Ave in St Clair.  So drop by and say hello if you find yourself down that end of town.

Thank you very much for your support (especially over those long cold winter mornings), and all the laughter. I've enjoyed meeting you all.

A massive thank you to the vendors who have become like family to me, Kate for always having a kind word and enormous patience, and all the customers for your support.

Take care and have a Merry Christmas

As we have done every year, from now until 23 December we will be offering freshly cut Christmas Trees harvested from our property . Come and see what we have this week or tell us what you want and place an order for next week. All sizes can be catered for from big Atrium size to little petite ones. The smell of fresh cut pine will definitely get you in the Christmas mood.

See you on Saturday,

Alice Baird

Organic Kombucha

We are celebrating the flavours of summer in our kombucha this week!

We have a divine Strawberry, Rosewater and Mint Kombucha which uses fresh strawberries* from Butler's and mint from Wairuna Organics.

The market special ($13.50 for 1L) is a refreshing Mojito Kombucha using a white and green tea blend with lime and fresh mint. This is just perfect as an alcohol-free alternative for the silly season.

*Strawberries not organic.

Raw Christmas Cakes

We are still taking orders for raw Christmas Cakes. These are organic, gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar free, paleo, vegan, and packed full of wholefood goodness. We'll have single-serve portions ($5) in the cabinet this week if you would like to try some before ordering.

I will be having my final autumn visit to the market 5 May before taking a break till August, so make the most of my next three visits!!!!
