Hi there
Perfect top picks right now. We have the plumpest of pumpkins, the crunchiest of apples & the brightest of coloured carrots currently!
Our Market has lots of success stories dotted around the carpark & platform, many husband & wife/partner teams - Janine & Roger at Hazelnut Estate – check out their delicious local healthier version of a Nutella, John & Heather at Ettrick Gardens, Fyfe & Bronwen at Juiced Up, Kevin & Esther at Gilbert’s, Vaughn & Shelley (& their kids) at Blue Mountain Butchery, generational orchardists (Willowbrook), mother & daughter teams – Petra & Anika at Ronia & Pippi, son & mother teams – Simon & Jude at Rosedale Orchard, Debs & Toby at Catlins Truebrew & Kitchen and so many other family combo’s at our stalls & often including the children helping & working in the businesses like La Crepe. By buying directly from our vendors you are supporting local family livelihoods in our wider community & helping keep land from being gobbled up into housing!
John at Willowbrook Orchard promises to be there this week, after deciding last minute not to drive in the strong gales in his small truck last weekend (especially as he leaves home before 3am & is in his early 80’s!), but he will have the full array of apples & pears from the family orchard in Roxburgh I am assured.
For those of you who maybe isolating or homebound we have a few vendors that can deliver to your door during the week, Brightside Microgreens, Gilberts Fine Foods, Ettrick Gardens, Waewae, Ronia & Pippi, Agreeable Nature Eggs, Blue Mountain Butchery, Tartan Sari, Dunford Grove, Evansdale Cheese, Oamaru Organics, Harbour Fish, Havoc Pork, Blueskin Bay Honey, Wild Dispensary, Judge Rock Wines, Hazelnut Estate, Matheson & Roberts, Whitestone Cheese, Breads & More, Dunedin Craft Distillery, Princes St Butchery & others. All their contact details you can find on our website www.otagofarmersmarket.org.nz under vendors.
Lots of brunch options to dine in outside (up on the platform undercover) & some of our vendors have samples for you to try before you buy.
Bring CASH as some of our vendors are cash only.
To see where all our vendors come from in the wider Otago region, we have our wonderful Market Map range of merchandise (gift cards, tea towels, jumbo beeswax wraps) to choose from in the Market caravan each week. A great local gift great prices ($20 tea towels, $5 cards, $25 wraps) made right here in Ōtepoti with a watercolour illustration we commissioned with a South Island artist.
Remember your keep cup, return jars & containers to keep the ReUse cycle loop working & bags for vegies, fruit & even bread. Most vendors are more than happy to fill your containers.
We encourage MASK use & respecting everyone’s space within the Market please.
Shop your way around Otago this weekend…. at the Market! Wishing you well.

Exams are coming up for the students, and winter sports have started consuming the better part of the evenings, so this week I have searched for quick, and warm recipes from the archives. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week and keeps warm! Bella (Assistant Manager)

We will be back at the market this Saturday! But it's looking like it will be our last, before we come back in spring. Loads of carrots and coriander again. Also, plenty of Parsnips with a frost on them getting them nice and sweet. We harvested all of our pumpkins a few weeks ago and will bring in 2 kinds. Also, more watermelon radish, rhubarb, dill, salad and a few others. Regenerative & Diverse farming, local & agri-chemical free. Organically grown (non-certified-talk to us!).

Hello Picklelovers,
We are back at the market and have a very small amount of our special reserve home-grown Chilli Pickle. This will be the last lot until next year. It’s a bit spicier than the last, but the good news is you can try before you buy…if you dare. $10 a jar for 100g.
I got a bit over zealous with it in the week and got a severe bout of the hiccups!
All your other favourites will be available too, and our delicious buckwheat seed crackers to try them on.
See you there. Danielle x
